A 28-year-old man was sentenced to seven months in jail by the Magistrates' Court in Kuching after pleading guilty to damaging his mother's household items. Mohammad Fitri Abdullah destroyed a dustbin, flower pots, a small table and a table fan at a house near Jalan Batu Kawa on Sept 10, causing about RM250 in damage.

Dapsy Sarawak lodges police report over Umno man's Catholic joke
DAP Socialist Youth Sarawak filed a police report at the Sekama police station in Kuching over remarks by Umno Sepang chief Datuk Noorazli Said about a Catholic priest and nun at the 2026 Umno General Assembly. The youth wing said the sexually suggestive joke, later linked to Psalm 129, trivialised religion and was especially sensitive in Sarawak, where many residents are Christian. Three held after meth-positive urine tests in Kuching and Bau raids
Three local men aged 19 to 40 were detained after testing positive for methamphetamine during an AADK Kuching anti-drug operation on Sept 14. The raids under 'Ops Cegah' covered Kampung Bijurey in Krokong, Taman Mutiara in Bau, Kampung Benuk and several areas around Kuching. They were arrested under Section 3(1) of Act 283 for further investigation.

Three held in Kuching drug raids, RM1,146 in drugs seized
Police in Kuching arrested three people in two separate drug raids, seizing over 17g of suspected drugs worth RM1,146. A 25-year-old man was detained at Kampung Semariang Jaya on Sept 13, and a 41-year-old woman with six prior records and a 45-year-old man were arrested outside a hotel on Jalan Tawi Sli on Sept 14. All three have been remanded and are being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Mother and son escape house fire in Kenyalang Park, Kuching
Two people, Lewis Lau Lee Wei, 39, and his mother Yii Siew Chuo, 70, escaped a fire that broke out in their house at Lorong Sim Kheng Hong 2, Kenyalang Park, Kuching early this morning. A ground-floor room was 80 percent destroyed and the living room was 20 percent affected. The Padungan fire station put out the blaze and handed the two victims over to family members.

Five teens in Kuching admit gang robbery, sent to Henry Gurney School
The Sessions Court in Kuching on Monday ordered five male teenagers to be placed at Henry Gurney School in Puncak Borneo after they pleaded guilty to gang robbery. The robbery took place at a convenience store along Jalan Tun Jugah at about 4am on June 1, where a 19-year-old worker was threatened with a machete and wooden sticks and about RM1,000 in cash and cigarettes were taken. Two 18-year-olds will be held until they turn 21, while the three younger accused, aged 14 and 15, were each ordered to spend three years at the juvenile rehabilitation facility.

Sarawak police chief tells journalists to approach OCPDs for case details
Sarawak Commissioner of Police Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said journalists in the state may contact district police chiefs to get information or clarification on police cases. Malaysian Immigration in Sarawak detained 59 Indonesian nationals in Ops Sapu at three locations around Kuching city from 12 September to yesterday. A total of 92 individuals were screened, with those held suspected of various immigration offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63. All detainees were taken for further action.

Kuching retail outlet fire put out after 11 hours
A fire at a retail chain near Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce in Kuching was fully extinguished at 2.54pm today after burning for about 11 hours. Sarawak woman missing a month after leaving for Taiwan
A 41-year-old woman from Sarawak has been reported missing after her family lost contact with her following her departure for Taiwan in early August. The Padawan district police chief said the missing-person report for Azrimah Raimin was lodged at Batu Kawa police station on 9 September, and the public is asked to pass information to the police.

Post-mortem on five helicopter crash victims in Ulu Baram completed
The post-mortem on five victims of a BO-105 helicopter crash near Long Lellang STOLport in Ulu Baram, Sarawak, has been completed at Miri Hospital's Forensic Department. All five died from severe burns. The bodies have not been released to families pending DNA test results.

A 74-year-old man in Kuching, Sarawak lost RM220,000 after falling for a non-existent stock investment advertised on Facebook. The victim made eight online transfers to four different bank accounts before realising he had been cheated when he could not withdraw the profits shown. Kuching police are investigating under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
