Melaka student with Marfan syndrome graduates from PMM with 3.81 GPA
Muhammad Akmal Yazali, 22, from Melaka, received his Electronics Engineering (Computer) diploma from Politeknik Merlimau Melaka with a 3.81 GPA despite living with Marfan syndrome and scoliosis. He was among 1,195 graduates at PMM's 24th convocation in Port Dickson, and will continue his bachelor's degree at UTHM.

Police probe death of 15-year-old girl who fell from Putrajaya apartment
A 15-year-old girl died after falling from a high floor of an apartment in Precinct 5, Putrajaya, on Friday night. Police received a call at 10.33pm and the girl was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical officer from Putrajaya Hospital. The case is classified as sudden death and an autopsy will be conducted today.

A 15-year-old girl died after she was believed to have fallen from the ninth floor of an apartment in Presint 5, Putrajaya, yesterday. Police received a call at 10.33pm and a Hospital Putrajaya medical officer confirmed her death at the scene. The case is classified as sudden death while the cause is still under investigation.

Elderly man hits accelerator by mistake, three injured in Pandan Perdana
An 89-year-old man accidentally pressed the accelerator while parking his car at Jalan 4/8 Pandan Perdana, Ampang Jaya, yesterday. Three people - a motorcyclist, a flower seller and a pedestrian - were injured and sought treatment at a nearby hospital. Police are investigating the case under Rule 10 LN 166/59.

1,500 join World Orangutan Day Fun Walk at Putrajaya Botanical Garden
More than 1,500 participants took part in the World Orangutan Day 2026 celebration at Taman Botani Putrajaya, organised by the Malaysian Palm Oil Green Conservation Foundation (MPOGCF) and launched by Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad. The main event was a 10km, 5km and 3km Fun Walk, with all entry fees channelled to the MPOGCF Conservation Fund for the Orang Utan Diplomacy (OUDip) programme.

F1 returns to Sepang in October, projected to generate RM1.3 billion
The rescheduled Bahrain Grand Prix will be held at Sepang International Circuit from Oct 2 to 4, 2026, marking Formula 1's return to Malaysia for the first time since 2017. A total of 50 undocumented migrants held at the Semenyih Detention Depot were deported to Indonesia on two flights from KLIA yesterday. Their airfare was funded by the Indonesian government, with 16 detainees flying to Jakarta and the rest to Medan.

Kajang police hunt two men who fled check and rammed MPV
Police in Kajang are tracking two men who fled after being stopped for inspection by an MPV patrol unit on Jalan Semenyih near the Kajang Prima traffic lights yesterday afternoon. The green Proton Wira hit a Perodua Ativa before ramming the police MPV, damaging its front right door, but no one was injured. The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code and police are asking the public to come forward with information.

Helicopter crash pilot's remains expected to be buried in Senawang tomorrow
The remains of Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, the pilot killed in the Perkhidmatan Doktor Udara (FDS) helicopter crash at Long Lellang, Sarawak, are expected to be buried in Senawang tomorrow. The family is still waiting for DNA test results before the body is brought home, with burial to take place at the Forest Height Islamic Cemetery after prayers at Masjid Bandar Baru Senawang.

Fence wall under construction collapses in Taman Jayamas, three cars damaged
In Taman Jayamas, Seremban, a house fence wall under construction collapsed at about 3am during heavy rain, crushing three neighbours' cars parked outside the house. The vehicles involved were a Toyota Vios, a Perodua Viva and a Proton Persona, and no injuries were reported. The contractor has been informed and will rebuild the collapsed wall.

RM350,000 to upgrade roads and lifts at Bandar Tasik Selatan flats
The government has allocated RM350,000 to upgrade road structures at the Bandar Tasik Selatan low-cost flats in Kuala Lumpur under the 2026 Projek Mesra Rakyat initiative. The flats' lifts will also be repaired, and a RM72,000 Flexi EV Charging station with four chargers was launched at the same event. Malayan tapir dies after being hit by car near Terachi
A 250kg male Malayan tapir was struck by a car at Km24 of Jalan Seremban-Kuala Pilah near the Terachi police station late last night. It suffered a broken front leg and internal injuries, and was confirmed dead this morning. The carcass was taken to the Jempol Perhilitan office for disposal under standard procedures.

Proton donates RM200,000 worth of drones for Nepal flood relief mission

A lorry crashed into the front of an eatery at Jalan Batu 12 Cheras at about 6.30pm yesterday. Kajang police said early investigations indicate the 37-year-old local driver is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel, not driven drunk as claimed in a viral video. No injuries were reported and the case is being investigated under Rule 10 LN 166/59.

Carolan confident Speedy Tigers can reach 2026 Asian Games final
National hockey coach Brendon Carolan believes his Speedy Tigers squad can reach the final of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games and secure a ticket to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. He said the team has shown improvement in its playing pattern and defence over the past two and a half months, and is targeting wins over Pakistan and China to top Group B.
