Abang Johari: Sarawak building rural roads to cut helicopter reliance
Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state is taking over former logging roads and building new ones, including in Baram and Bintulu, so rural communities can reach clinics without depending on helicopters. He spoke after officiating a semiconductor talent event at CENTEXS in Santubong, Kuching, and said the road network should be largely complete by 2030 to 2032.

Road repair at Kampung Grait-Git collapse to start this week
Physical rehabilitation works on the collapsed roadside linking Kampung Grait and Kampung Git in Puncak Borneo are expected to begin this week or next, according to Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin. The project follows nearly a year of technical investigations after the September 2025 collapse, with JKR Kuching overseeing the repairs.
