Penang: Juru-Sungai Dua highway Package 1 at 40.79% completion, on track for 2030
The Penang government says the Juru-Sungai Dua elevated highway project is on track for completion by 2030. Package 1, covering the route between the Juru and Sungai Dua toll plazas, is 40.79% complete and expected to finish by October next year. The RM3 billion project aims to ease congestion for about 200,000 daily users of the North-South Expressway corridor.

SkyGate NHJ to invest US$30m in two-phase Penang smart manufacturing facility
SkyGate NHJ Technology announced a US$30 million investment to develop a smart manufacturing facility in Penang, with the first phase focused on automated production lines. Independent probe ordered into Teluk Bahang ferry-MV Mekar Jaya collision
An independent investigation has been ordered into the collision between the Teluk Bahang Ferry and cargo vessel MV Mekar Jaya in Penang Port waters, which injured 21 people. Eppendorf leases 11.82-acre Bandar Cassia site for first Southeast Asian plant
German life sciences company Eppendorf SE has leased an 11.82-acre site at Bandar Cassia Technology Park in Batu Kawan, Penang, from the Penang Development Corporation for 60 years to build its first Southeast Asian manufacturing facility. The company plans to invest about €40 million (RM186 million) in the plant, with construction expected to begin in Q4 2026 and production starting in 2028, creating around 130 jobs by 2029.
