Health Ministry tightens air cargo controls with customs, border agency to fight drug smuggling
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad announced a strategic collaboration between the Health Ministry, Royal Malaysian Customs Department and the Border Control and Protection Agency to tighten controls on cargo and air entry points to combat illegal medicine smuggling. He spoke at the Kembara TOBaTS Borneo Zone program in Tuaran, Sabah, which was officiated by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. Nationwide seizures of illegal medicines reached RM132.4 million from 2023 to 2025, with Sabah accounting for nearly RM4.507 million.

Three arrested after brawl in Kota Belud caught on video
Police in Kota Belud arrested three men on Tuesday in connection with a public brawl that was filmed and shared on social media. The incident occurred in front of a grocery store, and police are still looking for three other suspects. The case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting.

Pacific Partnership 2026 opens in Kota Kinabalu with cultural performances

Elderly driver fined RM5,000 for careless driving on Ranau-Telupid road
A 77-year-old man, Lim Jet Cheng, was fined RM5,000 by the Magistrate's Court in Ranau for careless driving. The offence occurred on April 7, 2026, at KM53 of Jalan Ranau-Telupid, where his Isuzu D-Max collided with a Nissan lorry. He was charged under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

A 22-year-old woman in Ranau was fined RM80 or jailed three days after RM4,321 linked to an alleged fraudulent online loan scheme was found in her Agrobank account. The court was told the money belonged to a man who was deceived into making payments for a loan that was never released.

Man fined RM2,000 for not carrying IC during police check in Manggatal
A 41-year-old man was fined RM2,000 by the Magistrate's Court in Kota Kinabalu for failing to produce his identity card during a police inspection in Manggatal town on Aug 18. In a separate case, an undocumented man was jailed three months for possessing tools without a reasonable explanation.

Nine students injured after school bus carrying 36 crashes in Sabah
Nine students from SM Sains Sabah were injured when their school bus crashed on the Kota Belud-Kundasang road in Sabah. The accident occurred at the Simpang Tiga junction and all victims were taken to Kota Belud Hospital for treatment.

Projects on track
The Chief Minister of Sabah visited the site of the 20.8 km Serusop-Pituru Pan Borneo Highway project in Tuaran. The project is on track, with the 682-metre bridge over Sungai Sulaman expected to be completed by December next year and the full highway by July 2028.
