Sabah marine police seize RM5.37m in untaxed cigarettes, liquor
Sabah's Region 4 Marine Police seized nearly RM5.37 million worth of untaxed cigarettes and liquor in three raids in Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu on 14 and 15 September. The first raid at an unregistered jetty by Sungai Seguntur in Sandakan detained a 45-year-old man and seized 1.82 million cigarettes, while a boat hidden in mangroves nearby yielded another 1.73 million. A separate operation at a warehouse in Kampung Dambai, Jalan Tuaran Bypass, seized 43,200 tins of liquor.

Man gets six years, two strokes for assaulting underage stepsister
A 22-year-old man was sentenced by the Sessions Court in Kota Kinabalu to six years in jail and two strokes of the cane for sexually assaulting his 14-year-old stepsister. The offence took place in November 2025 in the living room of a house in a village in Papar, and he will also undergo counselling and two years of police supervision after release.
