Worker, 57, injured after leg trapped in excavator at Batu Lintang site
A 57-year-old worker was injured after his leg became trapped in the tracked section of an excavator at a site along JKR Batu Lintang in Kuching this morning. Firefighters from BBP Batu Lintang used a crane and another excavator to free him before handing him to medical personnel. The operation ended at 8.42am and firefighters later briefed workers on safety procedures ahead of demolition work.

A 79-year-old man died after being struck by an MPV on Jalan Field Force in Batu Kawa, Kuching last night. The 36-year-old driver, who did not hold a valid licence, has been detained as police investigate under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Man jailed seven months for smashing mother's belongings in Kuching
A 28-year-old man was sentenced to seven months in jail by the Magistrates' Court in Kuching after pleading guilty to damaging his mother's household items. Mohammad Fitri Abdullah destroyed a dustbin, flower pots, a small table and a table fan at a house near Jalan Batu Kawa on Sept 10, causing about RM250 in damage.

Man gets 20 months' jail for breaking into Kuching second-hand shop
A 45-year-old man was sentenced to 20 months' imprisonment by the Magistrates' Court in Kuching after pleading guilty to breaking into a second-hand shop near Jalan Rock on Aug 2. Items including power drills, amplifiers and parang were reported missing, and police traced him through CCTV footage.

Three held after meth-positive urine tests in Kuching and Bau raids
Three local men aged 19 to 40 were detained after testing positive for methamphetamine during an AADK Kuching anti-drug operation on Sept 14. The raids under 'Ops Cegah' covered Kampung Bijurey in Krokong, Taman Mutiara in Bau, Kampung Benuk and several areas around Kuching. They were arrested under Section 3(1) of Act 283 for further investigation.

Three held in Kuching drug raids, RM1,146 in drugs seized
Police in Kuching arrested three people in two separate drug raids, seizing over 17g of suspected drugs worth RM1,146. A 25-year-old man was detained at Kampung Semariang Jaya on Sept 13, and a 41-year-old woman with six prior records and a 45-year-old man were arrested outside a hotel on Jalan Tawi Sli on Sept 14. All three have been remanded and are being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Cook dies after car skids into ditch on Jalan Sungai Moyan
A 41-year-old cook died after the Perodua Kenari he was driving skidded and flipped into a ditch on Jalan Sungai Moyan in Kuching early this morning. Jeffery Dion was pronounced dead at the scene by a Sarawak General Hospital assistant medical officer. Padawan police are investigating under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Kuching retail outlet fire put out after 11 hours
A fire at a retail chain near Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce in Kuching was fully extinguished at 2.54pm today after burning for about 11 hours. The blaze destroyed the first floor and severely damaged the second floor of the building. Four people were involved but reported safe, and the cause and losses are still under investigation.

Man arrested over cable theft on Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhammad Salahuddin, tests positive for drugs
A 37-year-old man was arrested in Kampung Bintawa Ulu, Kuching, after he was suspected of stealing cable on Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhammad Salahuddin. The Kuching district police chief said the suspect has five prior criminal records and tested positive for drugs, and the case is being investigated under Section 431A of the Penal Code.

Fire destroys first floor of retail chain near Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce in Kuching
A fire broke out early Saturday morning at a retail chain near Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce in Kuching, Sarawak. The first floor was completely destroyed and the second floor severely damaged, with no victims reported. Firefighters from Batu Lintang and Tabuan Jaya stations brought the blaze under control by about 5.18am.

Sarawak woman missing a month after leaving for Taiwan
A 41-year-old woman from Sarawak has been reported missing after her family lost contact with her following her departure for Taiwan in early August. The Padawan district police chief said the missing-person report for Azrimah Raimin was lodged at Batu Kawa police station on 9 September, and the public is asked to pass information to the police.

Man held over illegal lottery sales at Roban rest hut
A 46-year-old man was arrested at a rest hut by the Saratok riverbank in Roban, Sarawak, on suspicion of selling illegal lottery numbers. Police seized a slip of paper with lottery numbers, cash and a pen. The case is being investigated under Section 4A(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

Kuching police arrest 14, seize RM1,720 in drugs under Op Tapis Khas
Kuching district police arrested 14 people during a three-day Op Tapis Khas operation from 7 September. Seizures included 1.09 grams of methamphetamine and 569 grams of ganja worth about RM1,720. The cases are being investigated under Sections 39B, 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Elderly man in Kuching loses RM220,000 to fake stock investment scam
A 74-year-old man in Kuching, Sarawak lost RM220,000 after falling for a non-existent stock investment advertised on Facebook. The victim made eight online transfers to four different bank accounts before realising he had been cheated when he could not withdraw the profits shown. Kuching police are investigating under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
