1Razak Mansion residents turn abandoned Salak South plot into 'Food Forest'
Residents of 1Razak Mansion in Salak South, Kuala Lumpur have spent eight months turning a 560-square-foot abandoned plot behind Block B into a 'Food Forest' of more than 80 plant, vegetable and herb species. The project, involving 60 residents and led by social entrepreneur Dr Billy Tang, has become a gathering spot for gardening, cooking and neighbourly contact, and also supports recycling, composting and rehabilitation of Sungai Kerayong.

Fiza Sabjahan delays plan to leave Wanita Hari Ini
Wanita Hari Ini (WHI) host and executive producer Fiza Sabjahan has revealed she had planned to step down from the TV3 programme this year. The plan was postponed because viewers and sponsors still want her, and she is needed to mentor new hosts. Three firms ordered to pay RM730,000 over negligence in Range Rover theft
The Sessions Court in Klang ordered a logistics company and two warehouse operators to pay RM730,000 to Fadzil Aziz Motor Sdn Bhd after a Range Rover was stolen from a warehouse in Westports, Pulau Indah. Judge Nurul Mardhiah Mohammed Redza found the three defendants negligent for leaving the vehicle unlocked with keys inside and the warehouse doors open. The court also rejected QBE Insurance's argument that its policy did not cover the theft because there was evidence the fence was cut.

UPSI expands Kadazandusun, Iban and Semai as degree majors
Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjong Malim, Perak, became the first Malaysian higher education institution to offer tertiary programmes in Kadazandusun and Iban in 2010, and in 2024 expanded these plus Semai into majors under its Bachelor of Education. Lecturers Julita Norjietta Taisin and Saripah Anak Banseng say a shortage of trained teachers and dwindling daily use threaten the languages, and that more learning materials and digital content are needed.

Zizan Razak proud to back Terbang film on Karamjit Singh
Zizan Razak admitted he was disappointed his role in the film Terbang was only a mechanic rather than a lead racer. After reading the script, he realised the Chiu Keng Guan film tells the story of national rally legend Karamjit Singh, and he accepted it as an honour. The film was launched at a gala night at TGV KLCC, Kuala Lumpur.

Fans complain over tickets and seating at Awie's Stadium Merdeka concert
Fans of the Awie Rock King - Last Man Standing 2026 concert at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur, last Saturday aired complaints on social media about numbered seats not being given as bought and ticket packages not delivered. iLasso Tickets Sdn Bhd said it was only appointed as ticketing partner, while seating management, event operations and package delivery were the organiser's responsibility. It asked affected customers to file complaints directly with the official organiser.

MACC officer reports Muhyiddin's lawyer to police over document in Jana Wibawa trial
An MACC officer has lodged a police report claiming that lawyer Datuk Amer Hamzah Arshad disclosed a classified document during Muhyiddin Yassin's corruption trial at the Kuala Lumpur High Court. The document is a recording of a conversation involving Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad, a former Segambut Bersatu deputy division chief who has been mentioned in testimony over the Jana Wibawa programme. Police are investigating the alleged disclosure.

Zambry urges POLYCC to build AI culture on campus

He said AI is not just about using apps but about working faster and producing job-ready graduates. 25 Shah Alam students compete in NST junior journalist contest
Twenty-five students from four Shah Alam secondary schools took part in the inaugural New Straits Times Heard The News Junior Journalists Challenge. Shrilaxmi Harenath Rao of SMK Bukit Jelutong won, with Sanjanaah Mages Varan and Qaseh Nazatul Nabila Mohd Ridzuan of SMK TTDI Jaya second and third. The event, held for NST's 181st anniversary, was supported by the Petaling Perdana Education Office and sponsored by Nestle.

Seven fishermen missing off Pulau Ketam, first day of SAR called off
Seven men including a boat skipper are missing after leaving Jeti Sementa in Kapar to fish, last seen near Batuan Kencing at about 5.30pm yesterday. The first day of the search and rescue operation was suspended at 7pm and will resume tomorrow morning, with the boat and all seven men still not found.

MACC officer tells court no immunity deal with Azman in Muhyiddin trial
An MACC senior assistant commissioner told the Kuala Lumpur High Court that businessman Datuk Seri Azman Yusoff was not given special treatment or immunity in exchange for testifying against Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Loke: M.V.15 inspection fees fixed, centres cannot undercut on price
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said M.V.15 vehicle ownership transfer inspection fees are standardised and set by JPJ, so licensed centres cannot compete on price and must focus on service quality instead. He spoke at the launch of a new M.V.15 inspection centre at CARSOME Academy in Sungai Buloh, the first run by an automotive TVET institution.

Former national footballer Safee Sali and former national doubles shuttler Koo Kien Keat are among the sports personalities expected to take part in New Dawn MY, a human-piloted humanoid robots competition, at Pavilion Arena, Pavilion Damansara Heights in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 3. Mother of stabbed student vows to keep seeking justice after accused acquitted
The mother of a female student killed in a stabbing at SMK Bandar Utama Damansara 4 in Petaling Jaya last October said she will keep seeking justice after the male student accused of murdering her daughter was acquitted by the High Court. Private vehicle inspection centre launched in Sungai Buloh
Transport Minister Anthony Loke launched the M.V.15 CARSOME Academy inspection centre in Sungai Buloh today. He said private inspection centres meeting JPJ standards can cut congestion and waiting times for vehicle ownership transfers to under 20 minutes. The government has also set a uniform price for M.V.15 inspections at all centres.

Classroom at SK Setia Alam destroyed in fire
A classroom at Sekolah Kebangsaan Setia Alam on Persiaran Setia Prima in Shah Alam caught fire this afternoon. Firefighters received the emergency call at 4.20pm and found the classroom 100 per cent burnt, though the flames were out before the Bukit Jelutong fire station crew arrived. No injuries were reported and investigators are looking into the cause.

Government wants more M.V.15 inspection centres opened nationwide
The government is encouraging more Motor Vehicle Inspection Centres (PPKM) dedicated to ownership-transfer (M.V.15) inspections for private vehicles to open nationwide. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the number of operators is not capped and any company meeting the conditions may apply for a licence. Vietnamese couple arrested in Ampang for illegal immigration services
A Vietnamese husband and wife were arrested in a raid at a premises on Jalan Bemban, Ampang, Kuala Lumpur for allegedly offering illegal immigration services to fellow Vietnamese, charging up to RM12,000 per client. The Immigration Department conducted the raid after a month of intelligence gathering, seizing various documents and equipment. All three suspects were taken to the Putrajaya Immigration Office for further investigation.
