Batu Kitang gets over 1,200 streetlights since 2016, says assemblyman
More than 1,200 streetlights have been installed across Batu Kitang since 2016 to improve security in back lanes and housing estates, assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang said. Six CCTV cameras have also been fitted along Arang Road and in the Third Mile area. A community dialogue on security and infrastructure will be held at Choon Foh Kopitiam, Capital Garden, this Saturday.

The Lien Heng Cup-Lien Heng Lion Dance Open Championship 2026 will be held on Sept 26 and 27 at The Hills in Kuching, offering RM25,500 in prizes including RM8,000 for the champion. Repeat drug offender gets five years' jail, two strokes of the cane in Kuching
A 43-year-old man was sentenced to five years' imprisonment and two strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court in Kuching after pleading guilty to repeat drug offences. Mohamad Sahmin Sulong tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine in May. He was also ordered to undergo two years of police supervision after his sentence.

50 Sarawak PGA officers undergo combat shooting training in Kuching
Fifty General Operations Force (PGA) personnel from the Sarawak Brigade underwent combat shooting training at the brigade headquarters in Kuching on September 8.
