Kuching man arrested with 569g cannabis faces drug trafficking charge
A 30-year-old man in Kuching was arrested on Monday after police found 569g of suspected cannabis on him. He faces a possible drug trafficking charge under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment. The suspect is being remanded for five days to assist investigations.

Repeat drug offender gets five years' jail, two strokes of the cane in Kuching
A 43-year-old man was sentenced to five years' imprisonment and two strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court in Kuching after pleading guilty to repeat drug offences. Mohamad Sahmin Sulong tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine in May. He was also ordered to undergo two years of police supervision after his sentence.

Eight sentenced to 18 months for Kuching love scam syndicate
Eight people, including five Indonesians and three Malaysians, were sentenced to 18 months in jail in Kuching on Sept 8 for their roles in an online love scam syndicate. Kuching court fines caregiver RM5,000 for injuring autistic girl
A 51-year-old woman was fined RM5,000 by the Sessions Court in Kuching for abusing a five-year-old autistic girl under her care. The offence occurred at a rehabilitation centre in Kuching in May 2025, and the court also ordered her to serve 100 hours of community service and be of good behaviour for three years.

Kuching South council to sue illegal dumpers using public photos, videos
The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will take legal action against individuals caught on camera illegally dumping waste.
