Former Tabung Haji chairman Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim completed his RM450,000 bail process at the Kuala Lumpur Courts Complex. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of using his position to obtain a company chairmanship with an annual remuneration of RM690,000.

PDC opens proposals for 15.8-acre Batu Kawan commercial land at RM75 psf
Penang Development Corporation is inviting companies to bid for about 15.81 acres of commercial development land along Jalan Batu Kawan in Seberang Perai Selatan, Penang. The 688,527 sq ft site carries a reserve price of RM75 psf, implying a minimum value of about RM51.64 million. Proposals must state the purchase price, payment method and development plans, with PDC retaining sole discretion over evaluation.

Penang ferry collision probe ongoing, initial report submitted to task force
Investigations into the Sept 1 collision between the Teluk Bahang ferry and MV Mekar Jaya within Penang Port limits are ongoing. An initial report has been submitted to a Transport Ministry task force, and a joint committee is determining the cause of the incident that injured 21 people.

Restaurant waiter, 19, charged with attempted murder for ramming car into man during armed fight in Air Itam
A 19-year-old restaurant waiter, Lim Boon Sik, was charged at the Sessions Court in George Town with attempted murder for allegedly ramming his car into a 25-year-old man during an armed fight in Air Itam on August 29. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of RM10,000. The case is set for mention on October 7.

6-Meter Crocodile Spotted Near Kuala Kurau Beach, District Council Erects Warning Banner
A crocodile over six meters long was spotted at the Parit Tok Hin sluice gate in Kuala Kurau, Parit Buntar, less than 100 meters from the beach. The Kerian District Council has put up a warning banner and will consult PERHILITAN for further action.

Penang City Council raids unlicensed laundrette on Gat Lebuh Macallum
The Penang Island City Council (MBPP) conducted a joint enforcement operation on Monday at a laundrette on Gat Lebuh Macallum in George Town for operating without a valid business license. The premises was run by foreign workers who could not produce identification, and MBPP seized 38 laundry baskets and equipment blocking the public walkway. KPDN also issued compounds totaling RM500 for an expired weighing machine and lack of price display.
