Grab to grow AV fleet to 50 vehicles, expand beyond Punggol
Grab will expand its autonomous vehicle fleet from 10 to 50 over the next six months and is preparing an on-demand point-to-point service in Punggol, with plans to extend to other parts of Singapore subject to regulatory approval. The company says its AVs have travelled over 110,000km and served more than 12,000 riders, and it is working with LTA on a depot and new AV roles.

Tampines bus delays under Go-Ahead Singapore raise commuter complaints, MP Baey Yam Keng says
Commuters in Tampines have complained of longer waits and poorer reliability since Go-Ahead Singapore took over the area's bus services. Tampines GRC MP Baey Yam Keng said in a Facebook post on Sunday (Sept 13) that service quality has declined since the SBS Transit era, and Go-Ahead Singapore said about 40 per cent of its drivers are new and need time to learn the routes.

GFM Services wins extra RM37.4m Pengerang turnaround contract
GFM Services Bhd has received an additional RM37.4 million release order for major turnaround works at the Pengerang Integrated Complex in Johor, lifting the contract value to RM104.16 million. The work was awarded to its 60%-owned subsidiary Shapadu CR Asia by Pengerang Refining Company and is expected to start in March 2027.

GFM Services' Pengerang turnaround orders rise to RM268.7mil after revision
GFM Services Bhd said the combined gross estimated value of four release orders for the first major turnaround cycle at the Pengerang Integrated Complex in Johor has risen to RM268.7 million. The increase follows a revised release order from Pengerang Refining Company Sdn Bhd to its indirect 60%-owned subsidiary Shapadu CR Asia, which lifted that package by RM37.4 million to RM104.2 million.

Six Malaysians admit armed gang robbery of $4.9m at King Albert Park bungalow
Six Malaysian men pleaded guilty in Singapore's High Court to armed gang robbery and money laundering over a $4.9 million heist at a good class bungalow in King Albert Park during a high-stakes poker game in April 2024. A 41-year-old Bangladeshi national was sentenced to 13 months and two weeks' jail after fighting an acquaintance near Lorong 14 Geylang and then falsely telling police he had been robbed of S$256 and his work permit. Woman who set fire to Sembawang HDB doorway after breakup jailed five to six months

A bowmouth guitarfish was filmed by anglers at Bedok Jetty on Oct 29, 2022, and formally documented in a report published by the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum on Aug 31. Woman sues Sheng Siong over trolley of rice bags hitting her foot

North-South Corridor enters toughest phase as hard rock and tight tunnels slow work
Singapore's North-South Corridor has entered its most technically demanding construction phase, with hard rock, groundwater and tight spaces slowing progress. At Novena, tunnelling passes within about 1m of the North-South Line, requiring smaller excavation sections and extra ground support. The 20km project includes an 8.8km viaduct and 12.3km tunnel, with the viaduct expected to open from 2027.
