Woman who exploited two underage girls for prostitution to be assessed for reformative training; client jailed four weeks
A 20-year-old woman in Singapore pleaded guilty on Sept 14 to three charges including recruiting a person for exploitation and living on the earnings of prostitution, after exploiting two girls aged about 16. She will return to court on Oct 22 for a reformative training suitability report. One customer, Syahirul Daud Abdul Razak, 26, was sentenced to four weeks' jail for obtaining sexual services from the younger girl.

Six Malaysians admit armed gang robbery of $4.9m at King Albert Park bungalow
Six Malaysian men pleaded guilty in Singapore's High Court to armed gang robbery and money laundering over a $4.9 million heist at a good class bungalow in King Albert Park during a high-stakes poker game in April 2024. The masked robbers, armed with machetes and baseball bats, tied up 11 people and fled to Malaysia with cash, valuables and cryptocurrency. A seventh suspect remains at large, and sentencing is set for Monday.

Bukit Panjang condo MCST sues developer and four others over balcony concrete fall
The management corporation of Foresque Residences in Bukit Panjang is suing the developer, architect, structural engineer, railing engineer and subcontractor over alleged construction defects after a piece of concrete fell 20m from a third-floor balcony in February 2025. Tests later found about 60 per cent of balcony slab edges at Block 105 produced hollow sounds. The defendants have filed defences at the High Court denying liability.

A 35-year-old construction worker died at a worksite at 37 Jurong Port Road on Sep. 11 after being struck by a hose connected to a compressed air pump during foundation works. The Ministry of Manpower identified Keller Foundations (S E Asia) Pte Ltd as occupier and employer, and has instructed the company to stop all concreting works while it investigates.

Hong Kong principal sues school over sacking after Jurong guard row
A Hong Kong secondary school principal who was filmed shouting at security guards in Jurong on May 22 is suing his former school for wrongful termination. Lee Cheuk-hing, formerly of San Wui Commercial Society Secondary School in Tuen Mun, is seeking about HK$902,867 after the school dismissed him with immediate effect instead of accepting his resignation. The case is due to go on trial in December.

True Fitness and True Yoga ceased operations across all outlets after being placed into provisional liquidation, with staff told by email late on Sep. 10. About 100 former employees gathered at the company's 8 Claymore Hill headquarters on Sep. 11 to hear from provisional liquidators, who said they would try to recover funds for unpaid salaries and member refunds. CASE reported members' losses of more than S$63,000 in unutilised memberships as of Sep. 11, and staff said they had received no compensation or promises.

52 Singaporeans held in China; actress and influencer allegedly at linked Singapore networking sessions
Singapore's MFA said 52 Singaporeans were arrested and detained in Guangxi, China, in a law enforcement operation against suspected pyramid scheme activities. A Mothership reader said he attended two networking sessions in Singapore linked to the alleged scheme, including one at a bar along Alexandra Road in March 2026 where he allegedly met a Singaporean actress and a car influencer.

A woman is suing Sheng Siong and one of its employees over an incident at the supermarket's Clementi West Street 2 outlet on Mar 11, 2021, where a trolley loaded with bags of rice allegedly struck her from behind. Ms Dong Lihua claims injuries to her left foot and back, and says the incident worsened a degenerative disc condition; she is seeking about S$11,000 in medical and transport expenses plus damages. Sheng Siong denies negligence and says her own negligence caused or contributed to the injuries.
