Worker, 35, dies at Jurong Port Road site after being hit by compressed air hose
A 35-year-old construction worker died at a worksite at 37 Jurong Port Road on Sep. 11 after being struck by a hose connected to a compressed air pump during foundation works. The Ministry of Manpower identified Keller Foundations (S E Asia) Pte Ltd as occupier and employer, and has instructed the company to stop all concreting works while it investigates.

A 35-year-old worker died on Sept 11 after being struck by a hose connected to a compressed air pump at a construction site at 37 Jurong Port Road. The Ministry of Manpower has identified Keller Foundations (S E Asia) as the employer and occupier, and has ordered concreting works at the site to stop while it investigates. It is the second workplace death at a Jurong Port Road construction site in recent months, after a 23-year-old Bangladeshi worker was killed by falling scaffolding on Aug 3.

Hong Kong principal sues school over sacking after Jurong guard row
A Hong Kong secondary school principal who was filmed shouting at security guards in Jurong on May 22 is suing his former school for wrongful termination. Lee Cheuk-hing, formerly of San Wui Commercial Society Secondary School in Tuen Mun, is seeking about HK$902,867 after the school dismissed him with immediate effect instead of accepting his resignation. The case is due to go on trial in December.

Hong Kong principal sacked over SAFRA Jurong swearing seeks S$154,700
A Hong Kong school principal fired after swearing at security guards at SAFRA Jurong in May is seeking about HK$960,000 (S$154,700) in an unfair dismissal claim. Lee Cheuk-hing, former principal of San Wui Commercial Society Secondary School, was in Singapore on a study tour from May 20 to 24 when the incident occurred. His case was briefly heard at Hong Kong's Labour Tribunal on Sept 8, with trial set for Dec 1.

85-year-old Bukit Batok resident waited over two hours for help after shower fall
An 85-year-old woman fell in her shower at Harmony Village @ Bukit Batok on Sep 2 and pressed the emergency call bell, but no one came for over two hours. She dragged herself to the main door, where a neighbour heard her calls and an ambulance was finally summoned. She underwent hip surgery and is recovering at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, while the operator says it is reviewing the incident.
