Politeknik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin wins overall eDOLA 2026 title
The 14th Digital Learning Innovation Awards (eDOLA) for polytechnics and community colleges was held at the Selangor International Trade Centre (SITC) in Shah Alam. Politeknik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin took the overall championship and RM120,000. Higher Education Ministry secretary-general Aminuddin Hassim also launched SATRIA, a blockchain-based academic verification system.

UM to launch 121st anniversary celebration on Sept 19
Universiti Malaya will launch its 121st anniversary celebration (UM121) on 19 September 2026 at its campus. The launch will be officiated by Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah, who is also UM Chancellor, and features the first Royal Brisk Walk with over 2,000 UM members. A series of UM121 programmes runs until December 2026.

Penang student enters USM after caring for sick mother and siblings
Muhammad Adam Iskandar Azharunaim, 20, has begun his undergraduate studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia after years of caring for his cancer-stricken mother and three siblings, one of them disabled. His father died of Covid-19 five years ago and his mother died on 24 August. He had earlier turned down a place at UIAM and chose Form Six to stay with his family.

UKM and UiTM prepare to welcome new students
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Shah Alam Campus are making preparations for their new student orientation weeks. At UKM, the Minggu Tekad Siswa involves 44 facilitators, while UiTM is running a five-day course for its MDS assistants before Minggu Destini Siswa is held both online and physically.

Melaka student with Marfan syndrome graduates from PMM with 3.81 GPA
Muhammad Akmal Yazali, 22, from Melaka, received his Electronics Engineering (Computer) diploma from Politeknik Merlimau Melaka with a 3.81 GPA despite living with Marfan syndrome and scoliosis. He was among 1,195 graduates at PMM's 24th convocation in Port Dickson, and will continue his bachelor's degree at UTHM.

URIIS 2026 in KL links university research to investors
The University Research and Innovation Investment Summit (URIIS) 2026 will be held from Sept 21-23 at World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. Jointly organised by the higher education ministry and UPM, it brings together 20 public universities, investors and industry to showcase over 200 technologies with commercial potential across 12 clusters.

MICPA recognises KPTM Bangi Diploma in Accounting
Kolej Poly-Tech Mara's Diploma in Accounting has been recognised by the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants, opening a clearer route to the CPA (Malaysia) qualification. The recognition and a strategic collaboration between KPTMSB and MICPA were formalised at KPTM Bangi's Grand Hall on Wednesday.
