Remand on Azeez not extended, ex-Tabung Haji chairman to be freed today
Kuala Lumpur: Former Tabung Haji chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim is expected to be released this evening after police failed to extend his remand. His lawyer said the application for a further three days under Section 420 of the Penal Code was rejected, and Azeez is due out before 5pm. He and two former TH officers had been remanded over a fraud case linked to TH hibah.

At the Umno General Assembly at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, Puteri Umno chief Datuk Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi said the wing wishes Najib Razak well ahead of a Federal Territories Pardons Board meeting expected to discuss his clemency application. Najib, 72, is serving a reduced six-year sentence over the misappropriation of RM42 million from SRC International.

Umno Youth ready to back mega ummah gathering with PAS
Umno Youth has declared its readiness to support a proposed mega ummah unity gathering with PAS to strengthen Malay-Muslim political cooperation. Wing chief Dr Akmal Saleh said the initiative should lead to concrete discussions and solutions for young Malays, and will be taken nationwide through an ummah unity roadshow.

Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh said his wing is ready to answer PAS Youth's call for a Himpunan Mega Penyatuan Ummah, but wants the rally to include discussion and proposed solutions. Akmal also announced plans for a special team to help women left without support when husbands fail to pay maintenance.

Awie promises 35 songs, five bands at Stadium Merdeka this Saturday
The Awie Rock King - Last Man Standing 2026 concert will be held at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur this Saturday. 8-year-old and 81-year-old conquer 118 floors of Menara Merdeka 118
Eight-year-old Chua Ze Yu and 81-year-old Melita Kit were the youngest and oldest participants in the IHH Sky Race at Menara Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 22-23. Both climbed 118 floors and 2,845 steps in the team category, supported by family members. Kit trained at the MBPJ tower in Petaling Jaya, while Ze Yu practised in his apartment building.
