GFM Services wins extra RM37.4m Pengerang turnaround contract
GFM Services Bhd has received an additional RM37.4 million release order for major turnaround works at the Pengerang Integrated Complex in Johor, lifting the contract value to RM104.16 million. The work was awarded to its 60%-owned subsidiary Shapadu CR Asia by Pengerang Refining Company and is expected to start in March 2027.

Woman who exploited two underage girls for prostitution to be assessed for reformative training; client jailed four weeks
A 20-year-old woman in Singapore pleaded guilty on Sept 14 to three charges including recruiting a person for exploitation and living on the earnings of prostitution, after exploiting two girls aged about 16. She will return to court on Oct 22 for a reformative training suitability report. One customer, Syahirul Daud Abdul Razak, 26, was sentenced to four weeks' jail for obtaining sexual services from the younger girl.

GFM Services' Pengerang turnaround orders rise to RM268.7mil after revision
GFM Services Bhd said the combined gross estimated value of four release orders for the first major turnaround cycle at the Pengerang Integrated Complex in Johor has risen to RM268.7 million. The increase follows a revised release order from Pengerang Refining Company Sdn Bhd to its indirect 60%-owned subsidiary Shapadu CR Asia, which lifted that package by RM37.4 million to RM104.2 million.

A factory manager, Mohd Noor Selamat, 58, died in a two-vehicle crash at Kilometre 31.2 of the Kota Tinggi-Kluang road yesterday evening. A married couple in a Perodua Axia also died. His body is to be buried at Taman Sri Lambak Muslim cemetery in Kluang today.

Couple killed in Kota Tinggi crash had told family to travel separately

A bowmouth guitarfish was filmed by anglers at Bedok Jetty on Oct 29, 2022, and formally documented in a report published by the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum on Aug 31. It is the first confirmed record of the critically endangered species in Singapore waters since a specimen was netted off Marine Parade in 1995.

Woman sues Sheng Siong over trolley of rice bags hitting her foot

Police: bomb threat at Mid Valley Southkey in Johor Bahru was a hoax
Johor police have confirmed that a bomb threat emailed against a business premises at The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey in Johor Bahru was false. Bomb disposal units swept the interior and exterior, examined several suspicious objects and found no explosive material, declaring the area safe. North-South Corridor enters toughest phase as hard rock and tight tunnels slow work
Singapore's North-South Corridor has entered its most technically demanding construction phase, with hard rock, groundwater and tight spaces slowing progress. At Novena, tunnelling passes within about 1m of the North-South Line, requiring smaller excavation sections and extra ground support.
