Maybank donates four smart TVs to SMK Santubong
Maybank Sarawak Region donated four smart televisions to SMK Santubong in Kuching during Maybank Global Corporate Responsibility Day 2026 and the Cahaya Kasih Challenge 2026-2027 programme. Sarawak regional director Abang Jamili Abang Julai said the contribution helps the school overcome constraints in technology and communication facilities. He hoped more corporate parties would come forward to help the school.

Kota Sentosa assemblyman hands out food baskets for Malaysia Day
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin distributed food baskets to residents of his constituency for Malaysia Day 2026 in Kuching. He said Sarawak's mix of races and religions should be a strength rather than a source of division, and that no one in the community should feel left out.

Kasih@HAWANA aid presented to late journalist James Ritchie's family in Kuching
The family of the late veteran journalist James Alexander Ritchie received a contribution under the Kasih@HAWANA Fund X TM at their home in Tabuan Desa, Kuching. Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching presented the aid to his wife, Helen Tan, recognising his more than 50 years in journalism. The fund has so far helped 241 recipients this year, 35 of them from Sarawak.

Veteran broadcaster in Kuching gets Kasih@HAWANA X TM aid on Malaysia Day
Uleyvia Ubang, a 58-year-old veteran broadcaster with 30 years at Cats FM who has chronic kidney disease, received a contribution from the Kasih@HAWANA X TM Fund at her home in Kuching on Malaysia Day. The fund, backed by Telekom Malaysia's CSR and run by the Communications Ministry through Bernama, has aided 77 media practitioners since June 2026 and 847 since 2023.

Heart patient in Landeh gets food aid from Hope Place Kuching
A 48-year-old man in Landeh, Sarawak, who has heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure, is receiving basic food supplies from Hope Place Kuching after his wife and daughter disappeared last year and his savings were drained. He was recently discharged from the Sarawak Heart Centre in Kota Samarahan and is doing freelance translation work while awaiting monthly welfare aid.

SNCC Samarahan first phase set for May 2028 completion, RM30m approved
The first phase of the Special Needs Community Centre (SNCC) in Samarahan, Sarawak is expected to be completed by May 2028, with RM30 million approved under the 13th Malaysia Plan. State minister Fatimah Abdullah said the centre will provide lifelong support including early intervention, vocational training and residential care. She also announced 745 children received early intervention services statewide as of Dec 31, 2025, and Sarawak aims to establish nine more One Stop Early Intervention Centres by 2030.

Pay & Go eDonation platform launched in Kuching with Red Crescent Sarawak
A new Pay & Go eDonation Platform was launched in Kuching on Sept 9, allowing the public to give to humanitarian and charitable causes digitally. The launch was held alongside the signing of an eDonation Collaboration Agreement between the Malaysian Red Crescent Society Sarawak Chapter and Pay & Go Sdn Bhd, witnessed by state minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, who said listed NGOs must be credible, licensed and transparent.

SCCS Childhood Cancer Walk moved to Nov 7 after haze postponement
The Sarawak Children's Cancer Society has rescheduled its Childhood Cancer Awareness Walk to Nov 7 after it was postponed because of the haze. Registration stays at RM50 per participant, with proceeds going to children with cancer and their families. The society also lit the Darul Hana Bridge in gold on Sept 12 under its Light It Up Gold 2026 campaign.
