KBS: All ministries ready for Bahrain GP at Sepang
The Youth and Sports Ministry says preparations to host the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit from 2 to 4 October are running smoothly. Technical committee meetings are held every Tuesday and reports go to Cabinet, involving all ministries on protocol, international invitations and infrastructure. SIC has been fully closed since 7 September for circuit and facility repairs.

Sepang to host Bahrain Grand Prix in October
Sepang International Circuit will stage the Bahrain Grand Prix from 2 to 4 October, the first time a Formula 1 race carrying another country's name is held in Malaysia. Harian Metro lists historical precedents such as the San Marino GP at Imola, the Swiss GP at Dijon and the Luxembourg GP at the Nurburgring, and says Sepang was chosen as the alternative venue after the Bahrain GP was cancelled earlier this season over geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

MAIS targets all Selangor mosques to adopt AI and digitalisation
The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) aims for all mosques in the state to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalisation in their management, up from about 30 per cent currently. MAIS secretary Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini said digital financial systems and management courses will be expanded by district, with AI also used in MAIS's daily operations. He spoke at the 12th International Conference on Mosque, Zakat and Waqf Management (IMAF) in Bangi.

2,373 students join Young Curators museum programme at 32 museums
A total of 2,373 students took part in the 'Bermalam di Muzium' 2026 programme, themed 'Young Curators', held at 32 museums nationwide from Sept 15 to 16. The closing ceremony was held at Dataran Muzium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, where National Unity Ministry deputy secretary-general Mohamad Sobri Mat Daud said the initiative helps students experience history beyond the classroom.

Bermaz Xpeng begins G6 CKD customer deliveries in Malaysia
Bermaz Xpeng has started customer deliveries of the locally assembled Xpeng G6, with the first batch handed over at Kuala Lumpur Tower. The CKD G6 is assembled at EP Manufacturing Berhad's facility in Melaka and is offered in three variants priced from RM158,888. Nationwide deliveries of the updated Xpeng X9 have also begun.

Foreign workers occupy KL apartment utility rooms, run illegal motorcycle repair
At an affordable housing apartment on Jalan Ipoh in Kuala Lumpur, seven or eight Bangladeshi workers have been occupying equipment and pump rooms as living quarters and workshops, storing motorcycle tyres, black oil and petrol, and running an illegal motorcycle repair operation. Residents say one was seen showering in a women's toilet near the pool, and they have lodged three police reports and referred the matter to the COB, the strata management tribunal and Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

More than 200,000 residents from Bukit Jalil, Bandar Kinrara and Taman Puncak Jalil are opposing a proposed 17,000-unit apartment development in Bukit Jalil, citing worsening congestion and inadequate infrastructure. The project was postponed after failing to get DBKL approval, and residents plan to submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister in October.

Negeri Sembilan DOE steps up open burning checks as API turns unhealthy
The Negeri Sembilan Department of Environment has increased ground-level monitoring, especially of open burning, after air quality in several districts fell to unhealthy levels. Nilai recorded an API of 172, Seremban 168 and Port Dickson 155 as of noon. Letters were sent to local authorities and district offices to step up enforcement, and cloud seeding will be coordinated by NADMA at federal level.

Box mistaken for radioactive material in Sri Petaling turns out to be team building game
Police confirmed a plastic box suspected of containing radioactive material in front of a premises in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, actually held 20 plastic bricks from a game called 'radioactive bomb' used for team building. The box was accidentally left behind by a worker from a training management company after a programme in Ipoh, Perak, and the Bomb Disposal Unit destroyed it before the Atomic Energy Department confirmed no radioactive residue.

KLIA standardises e-hailing entry charge at RM2 for Terminals 1 and 2
KLIA has standardised the e-hailing vehicle entry charge at RM2 including tax at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, effective today. The charge was previously RM3 at Terminal 1 and RM2.16 at Terminal 2. Malaysia Airports said the move eases things for passengers and operators, with 99.3 per cent of drivers now completing pick-ups within the 10-minute grace period.
