Judy Stephen becomes first woman tuai rumah of 130-year-old Sera longhouse
Judy Stephen, 60, was officially appointed tuai rumah of a longhouse in Sera, Sebauh, Sarawak on July 1, becoming the first woman to lead the 130-year-old Iban settlement. She succeeds her uncle TR Jack Sigie as the 10th chieftain of the community, which traces its origins to Iban migrants from Ulu Skrang during the rule of Rajah Charles Brooke.

RM80,000 fire pump handed to Sebauh fire brigade
The Sebauh fire brigade in Sarawak has received a high-capacity water pump worth about RM80,000 from state minister Dato Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom. The pump is intended to strengthen firefighting capabilities, especially for longhouse fires. Rundi also stressed the importance of installing fire breakers in longhouses.

Sarawak haze eases as Serian API drops from hazardous level
Air quality in Sarawak is improving, with no areas recording hazardous API readings as of 1.45pm. Serian, where an emergency was declared yesterday, saw its reading drop to 287, still in the 'very unhealthy' range. Deputy Premier Douglas Uggah said workplaces in Serian may operate with health precautions while the committee monitors the situation.
