SBA rewards Genevie, Isyraf after Malaysia International Series success
The Sarawak Badminton Association has given performance incentives to Genevie Lim and Isyraf Hafizin after their podium finishes at the PETRONAS Malaysia International Series 2026. Genevie received RM2,000 for winning the mixed doubles title, while Isyraf got RM1,000 for finishing runner-up in the men's doubles. Two other Sarawak youngsters, Jared Foo and Lucas Ho, received RM300 each for their runner-up finishes at the Lee Chong Wei Cup 2026.

American teen Tama Shimabukuro wins Leapmotor KL Cup badminton title
American 15-year-old Tama Shimabukuro beat France's Noe Khlif 11-8, 11-5 to win the men's singles at the Leapmotor Kuala Lumpur Cup, held at The Hood in Kuala Lumpur. Shimabukuro had earlier beaten Malaysian No. 1 Jimmy Liong 12-10, 11-4 in the round of 16.

BAM open to Zii Jia training with existing players, says Tengku Zafrul
BAM president Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said the association's doors are open to Lee Zii Jia to train with existing players. He said the decision rests with Zii Jia, while BAM is focusing on young players and preparations for the 2027 SEA Games and LA28 Olympics. BAM secretary-general Kenny Goh confirmed Zii Jia had trained at BAM twice a week before.

Chew Jit Thye defends badminton WH1 gold at Para SUKMA Selangor
Perak athlete Chew Jit Thye successfully defended his badminton WH1 (wheelchair) gold medal at the Selangor 2026 Para Malaysia Games at the Selangor Youth and Sports Complex in Shah Alam. The 27-year-old won all four matches without dropping a set. He now trains at the Kampung Pandan Paralympic Sports Excellence Centre and aims for the Paralympics.

Nik Muhammad Hashraff Muazzam Mohd Hilmi won the men's singles SU5 (physical disability) gold at the Selangor 2026 Para Malaysia Games at the Selangor State Youth and Sports Complex in Shah Alam. The 19-year-old beat Sabah's Gerald H. Simbaku VII 21-23, 21-10, 21-10 after receiving tips from Paralympic champion Cheah Liek Hou. The win made up for disappointments in the previous two editions.

Pearly-Thinaah say nothing is impossible ahead of Asian Games 2026
Pearly Tan and M Thinaah believe nothing is impossible at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 and refuse to set limits on Malaysia's medal chances. Thinaah said preparations are going well after returning from the China Masters, while Pearly said she has fully recovered from recurring injuries. The pair are expected to be among Malaysia's badminton hopes at the Games from 19 September to 4 October.
