Final report on Penang ferry collision to be finalised after probe
The final report on the September 1 collision between MV Mekar Jaya and the Teluk Bahang ferry in Penang waters will be finalised after the investigation is complete. A joint investigation committee involving the Marine Department, the Penang Port Commission and Penang Port Sdn Bhd is identifying the cause. 21 passengers were initially reported injured.

Restaurant waiter, 19, charged with attempted murder for ramming car into man during armed fight in Air Itam
A 19-year-old restaurant waiter, Lim Boon Sik, was charged at the Sessions Court in George Town with attempted murder for allegedly ramming his car into a 25-year-old man during an armed fight in Air Itam on August 29. He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail of RM10,000. The case is set for mention on October 7.

Penang City Council raids unlicensed laundrette on Gat Lebuh Macallum

The premises was run by foreign workers who could not produce identification, and MBPP seized 38 laundry baskets and equipment blocking the public walkway. An unlicensed laundry operating on Gat Lebuh Macallum in George Town was raided by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) on Monday. Foreign workers at the premises could not produce identification, and the case will be referred to the immigration department. MBPP also seized 38 bundles of cloth and equipment blocking the public walkway, and the ministry issued compounds for an expired weighing machine and missing price displays.

Over 3,000 attend Maulid Akbar event at Habib Mosque in Tanjung Tokong
