Healthy ageing a lifelong process, not an old-age concern, says MHAS chairman
At the 11th Malaysian Conference on Healthy Ageing at the Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysian Healthy Ageing Society organising chairman Dr Wong Teck Wee said healthy ageing must be treated as a lifelong process rather than something that begins in old age. He stressed prevention, lifestyle choices and community participation, citing the HEPOP pilot programme with about 80 participants.

Sarawak seeks special recruitment to fill 5,654 health department vacancies
Sarawak is pushing for a special recruitment exercise to fill 5,654 vacant posts in its Health Department, about 18 per cent of the workforce. Deputy Premier Dr Sim Kui Hian raised the proposal at the MA63 Implementation Action Council meeting in Kota Kinabalu, along with calls for health autonomy, clinic upgrades and 11,000 new posts.

Healthy ageing conference opens in Kota Kinabalu, calls for rethink of homes and communities
The 11th Malaysian Conference on Healthy Ageing opened today at the Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu. Organising chairman Dr Wong Teck Wee said Malaysia must look beyond medical care and redesign homes, neighbourhoods, transport and public spaces so older people can stay independent. The two-day conference, themed 'Revolutionising Healthy Ageing', brings together health professionals, researchers and policymakers from Malaysia and abroad.

Sabah health dept runs food safety drive on Mount Kinabalu trail
The Sabah State Health Department held a three-day food safety expedition on Mount Kinabalu from Sept 2 to 4. The program included inspections and education for food handlers, guides, and porters. Two establishments, Sutera Sanctuary Lodge and Mountain Torq, received the Clean and Safe (BeSS) recognition.
