Vegetation fire near Gali Batu Depot in Woodlands extinguished, no injuries
A vegetation fire measuring about 200m by 200m broke out near the Gali Batu Depot in Woodlands on Sept 7. The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted at about 6.50pm and extinguished the blaze using three water jets, with no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Ex-property consultant jailed 10 years, fined RM228mil for graft
The Court of Appeal in Johor Bahru sentenced former real estate consultant Amir Shariffuddin Abd Raub to 10 years in jail and a fine of nearly RM228 million. The court overturned his earlier acquittal on 33 corruption and four money laundering charges. The bench found that his claim the money was consultancy fees was unsupported by evidence.

Over one hectare of grassland burns near condo in Johor Bahru

The High Court in Johor Bahru has ordered YTL Construction to pay RM180,000 in damages for negligence and private nuisance. The company's temporary culvert works caused repeated flooding at Surau Ar Rahman and adjoining land from November 2020 to April 2022.

Man fined S$560,000 for evading duty on over 28,000 bottles of beer in Singapore
A 47-year-old Chinese national, Han Xiaoyang, was fined S$560,000 in a Singapore court for evading over S$60,000 in customs duty on 28,236 bottles of beer. The scheme involved falsely declaring the beer as other goods. As he did not pay the fine, he will serve 164 days in jail. The case was reported by Singapore Customs after an operation in November 2025.

10 local businesses join Ang Mo Kio pilot to test new strategies
Ten new local businesses have joined a pioneering initiative in Ang Mo Kio to test new business strategies. The businesses, located in the Sprout@AMK temporary retail cluster, are part of Enterprise Singapore's 12-month Heartland Innovation and Transformation (HIT) programme. Johor Regent scores six as Royal Johor wins inaugural polo title
Tunku Mahkota Ismail of Johor scored six goals to lead Royal Johor to a 10-7 victory over Temasek in the final of the inaugural Johor Super Crown Polo Tournament. The match was held at the Royal Johor Polo Club in Istana Pasir Pelangi, Johor Baru. The Regent was also named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

Sultanah Aminah Hospital forms committee to probe harassment claim against specialist

Foreign masseuse dies in fall from fourth floor fleeing MBJB raid
A 36-year-old foreign masseuse died after falling from the fourth floor of a shop house in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, Masai, Johor Bahru, while trying to flee an inspection by the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB). Man gets 2 years' jail, caning for selling Kpods and illicit drugs
A 24-year-old man, Basil Wang Zhuang Zhen, was sentenced on Sept 4 to two years' jail and two strokes of the cane for trafficking Kpods and other drugs. He was caught after ICA officers found a vape in his car at Woodlands Checkpoint, leading to a search of his home where authorities found thousands of tablets and other illicit items. He is the first person convicted for Kpod trafficking under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

RTS Link Woodlands North station completed, on track for 2027 opening
Singapore's Land Transport Authority announced the completion of the RTS Link Woodlands North station on Sept 4. The 4km cross-border link between Singapore and Malaysia is on track to begin operations in 2027, with a projected daily ridership of 40,000.

Malaysian jailed 15 weeks for smuggling 1,050 etomidate-laced pods through Woodlands Checkpoint
A 42-year-old Malaysian man, Ji Saow Hua, was sentenced to 15 weeks' jail on Sept 3 for importing 1,050 etomidate-laced e-cigarette pods worth $73,500. He was caught at the Woodlands Checkpoint on July 4, 2025, after an auxiliary police officer found the pods in his motorcycle's rear carriage box. Ji had previously been fined for a similar offence in 2024.
