BAM open to Zii Jia training with existing players, says Tengku Zafrul
BAM president Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said the association's doors are open to Lee Zii Jia to train with existing players. He said the decision rests with Zii Jia, while BAM is focusing on young players and preparations for the 2027 SEA Games and LA28 Olympics. BAM secretary-general Kenny Goh confirmed Zii Jia had trained at BAM twice a week before.

Selangor overall champions of Para SUKMA 2026, Amirudin hopes athletes reach world title
The closing ceremony of Para SUKMA 2026 was held at the Selangor International Trade Centre (STIC), with Selangor emerging as overall champions for the first time since the games began in 1982. Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said he hopes national para athletes will go on to become world champions, and noted the age limit of under 40 for athletes. Selangor collected 93 golds, 55 silvers and 52 bronzes, followed by Sabah and Sarawak.

At Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 in Selangor, Sarawak's Bryan Junency Gustin won the men's up-to-88kg para powerlifting gold with a best lift of 165kg. His younger brother, Brownson John Gustin, took bronze with a lift of 110kg. Bryan, who is the brother of national champion Bonnie Bunyau Gustin, now hopes to compete at the SEA Games.

Johannes Gabriel Chew of Sarawak won the gold medal in the men's up to 65kg para powerlifting category at the Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 games held at the Selangor International Trade Centre. He lifted 135kg and dedicated his victory to his late teammate Azlan Mos, who passed away on July 8.
