⛔ The total adds what can be added. Population, the community counts, the two age columns and new homes are sums. The percentages and the homes-per-100 ratio are recomputed from those sums, never averaged — the mean of 160 percentages describes nowhere. Household income and median new price are medians, and a median of medians is not a median, so those two are left blank rather than filled with a number that would not mean anything. New homes counts only the districts the developers’ register covers.
⛔ The total is of the rows in the table, not of Malaysia. The region and the baseline chosen above decide which districts are counted — with West Malaysia selected, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan are not among them, and the country’s own figure on the Population ageing tab will always be the larger one.
⛔ A district created after the 2010 census is shown joined to the one it was carved out of, because that census counted its people there — Larut dan Matang + Selama; Betong + Pusa; Daro + Tanjung Manis; Saratok + Kabong; Marudi + Beluru + Telang Usan; Beluran + Telupid; Gua Musang + Kecil Lojing; Serian + Tebedu; Miri + Subis; Batang Padang + Muallim; Bintulu + Sebauh; Hilir Perak + Bagan Datuk; Kuala Terengganu + Kuala Nerus; Tawau + Kalabakan. Both ends of the comparison then cover the same ground, instead of an old boundary’s count being set against a new boundary’s. Household income and poverty are left blank on those rows: both are published per district, and a median and a rate cannot be combined into the pair’s.
⛔ Left out, with no parent to pair it to: Bukit Mabong, Sarawak (10,155). It was created after the 2010 census, out of a division that lost 29% of its people between the two counts — so every district it could have come from fell steeply, and the data cannot say which one it was. Guessing would move those people into the wrong row; the 2020 baseline counts it in its own right.
