Malaysians flock to southern Thailand for holidays, spend estimated RM36mil
An estimated 60,000 Malaysians are expected to travel to southern Thailand during the Merdeka Day and school holidays, spending around RM36 million. The president of the Thailand-Asean Halal Trade and Tourism Association noted that hotels are about 95% booked and that recent calls for a boycott have not significantly affected travel.
