UNHCR urges careful consideration before repatriating Myanmar refugees
UNHCR has urged Malaysia to carefully consider the protection needs of Myanmar refugees before proceeding with repatriation, stating that conditions in Myanmar are not yet safe. This follows Malaysia's announcement that 1,476 refugees were voluntarily returned on September 29, part of a program that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said would see Myanmar accept 5,000 Rohingya.
