China-Nepal floods: first research shows no one could have outrun debris flow

A peer-reviewed study of the recent China-Nepal border floods found the debris flow moved at 19 metres per second, too fast for anyone to outrun. The disaster involved a rapid transition from ice avalanche to debris flow and flood, striking Gyirong Port on the Tibet border.
