FIFA's digital handcuffs trap problematic clubs
A Malaysian sports lawyer warns that football clubs cannot evade FIFA transfer bans by changing their names or identities, due to the new FIFA Connect ID Service which assigns a unique global ID to each club. He advises that the only way to lift a transfer ban is to pay off outstanding debts, and explains that creating a new club will not work due to the 'sporting successor' concept.
