Crackdown in Sibu Jaya: SRDC orders immediate halt to open burning linked to farming

The Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) has ordered an immediate halt to open burning along the Sibu Jaya bypass in Sibu, Sarawak, after another fire linked to farming activities was detected. The incident occurred while Sibu's Air Pollutant Index (API) had reached a hazardous level of 327. SRDC chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai called the actions of those involved irresponsible and urged landowners to check for illegal trespassing.
