China restores road access to Tibet disaster zone as search intensifies

China has fully reopened the only road to the Gyirong border crossing into Nepal, a week after catastrophic flooding and mudslides triggered by a glacier collapse tore it apart. Heavy machinery has reached the core disaster zone for the first time to intensify search operations for the missing, as the death toll in Nepal crossed 1,000.
