Galen Centre urges Budget 2027 to fund multi-year recruitment, retention of health workers
The Galen Centre for Health and Social Policy has called on the government to fund a multi-year programme in Budget 2027 to recruit and retain both Malaysian and foreign health workers. The call comes as the Ministry of Health faces over 15,000 nursing vacancies and a shortage of more than 13,000 specialists. The centre also proposed establishing an independent Health Services Commission to better manage the healthcare workforce.
