Iran and US trade heavy attacks on tankers near Strait of Hormuz; oil tops US$100
Iran said it attacked 10 ships near the Strait of Hormuz after the US sank five Iranian oil tankers, in the biggest wave of tit-for-tat attacks since the war began. Oil prices surged past US$100 a barrel, and at least one seafarer was killed. The US also reported firing ballistic missiles at a base in Jordan.
