Five killed as Flying Doctor helicopter crashes near Long Lellang airstrip
A Flying Doctor Service helicopter crashed and caught fire while attempting to land at the Long Lellang STOLport in Ulu Baram, Sarawak, on September 8, killing all five on board. The pilot, Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, and four Ministry of Health staff were travelling from Miri to deliver rural health care. The BO-105 helicopter had been used for MOH missions in Sarawak since 2009.
