DOSM: Building Cost Index down in peninsula, up in Sabah and Sarawak for August
Malaysia's Building Cost Index with steel bars fell between 0.1 and 1.1 per cent across Peninsular Malaysia in August 2026, while Sabah rose 0.1 to 3.4 per cent and Sarawak 0.1 to 0.4 per cent, DOSM said. Sand prices climbed up to 7.7 per cent in Kota Kinabalu, and cement rose 6.7 per cent in Kuching year-on-year.
