Ringgit closes higher against the US dollar on Thursday
The ringgit closed higher against the US dollar on Thursday, rising to 4.0630/0670 from 4.0670/0720 at Wednesday's close. Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief economist Dr Mohd Afzanizam Abdul Rashid said the ringgit performed well even as Brent crude rose and investors awaited Friday's US CPI data. The local currency also strengthened against the euro, yen and most ASEAN currencies.
