Suicide cases rise to 1,114 in 2024, depression doubles - Lee Lam Thye
Malaysia recorded 1,114 suicide cases in 2024 compared with 1,087 in 2023, while almost a million adults experienced depression according to NHMS 2023. Befrienders KL patron Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the rise demands more serious mental health intervention, including tackling stigma and expanding public services.
