Singapore police: $71,000 lost in 12 job scams tied to Pokemon cards

Singapore police say at least $71,000 was lost in 12 job scam cases linked to Pokemon and other trading cards between Aug 25 and Sept 14. Victims were offered remote online tasks, then told to transfer cryptocurrency to unlock higher payouts, and could not withdraw their money. Pokemon card scam cases rose to 605 in the first half of 2026 from 279 a year earlier, with $1.2 million lost.
