SUPP Youth chief: UMNO assembly joke on priest and Psalm 129 crossed the line

SUPP Youth Central chairman Kevin Lau Kor Jie has criticised remarks reportedly made at the UMNO General Assembly 2026 that used a story involving a Catholic priest and a nun alongside a reference to Psalm 129. He said Catholic clergy should not be turned into political punchlines and called for an apology if the scripture reference was inaccurate. Lau said political speech must not come at the expense of religious harmony in multiracial Malaysia.
