BYD scraps Tanjung Malim plant for CKD assembly, Sime Darby seen as main beneficiary
BYD has cancelled its planned 150-acre assembly plant in Tanjung Malim, Perak, and will instead use contract assembly, with Sime Darby's Inokom in Kulim, Kedah, seen as the likely partner. BIMB Securities says the pivot lowers risk for BYD and benefits Sime Darby, but Inokom's near-full capacity may limit near-term gains.
