UN FAO: Hormuz blockade to cut global food output into 2027
A UN Food and Agriculture Organisation official in Moscow warned that the near-standstill in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz will cut global food production and supplies in the second half of 2026 and in 2027. The FAO says the disruption could push food prices higher and worsen hunger in already crisis-hit regions, after US-Israeli strikes on Iran and Iranian retaliation left the conflict unresolved and fuel prices rising worldwide.
