Rail cable theft costs Malaysia RM50m since 2024, causes 381 hours of KTMB delays

Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah reported that cable theft on Malaysia's railway network has caused RM50.05 million in losses and 381 hours of KTMB delays since 2024. He highlighted the severity of the issue during a visit to the Batu Gajah railway station, noting that 1,300 incidents were recorded in the first half of 2025 alone.
