SNCC Samarahan first phase set for May 2028 completion, RM30m approved
The first phase of the Special Needs Community Centre (SNCC) in Samarahan, Sarawak is expected to be completed by May 2028, with RM30 million approved under the 13th Malaysia Plan. State minister Fatimah Abdullah said the centre will provide lifelong support including early intervention, vocational training and residential care. She also announced 745 children received early intervention services statewide as of Dec 31, 2025, and Sarawak aims to establish nine more One Stop Early Intervention Centres by 2030.

Dua anaknya, Euodia Then Suling, 15, dan Eugene Then Kuling, 12, menangis mengiringi pemakaman ibu mereka. Debra antara lima yang terkorban apabila helikopter Perkhidmatan Doktor Udara terhempas berhampiran Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, Selasa lalu.

Empat kawasan di Sarawak mencatat bacaan Indeks Pencemaran Udara (API) tidak sihat pada 6 petang hari ini, dengan Serian tertinggi di negara ini pada 174. Sri Aman mencatat 164, diikuti Kuching 154 dan Samarahan 152, manakala Johan Setia di Selangor satu-satunya kawasan lain dengan API tidak sihat pada 134.

Serian schools reopen Sept 14 as API improves, Lubok Antu continues PdPR
All primary and secondary schools under the Serian District Education Office will reopen and operate as usual from tomorrow (Sept 14) after air quality improved, the Sarawak State Education Department said. Schools under PPD Lubok Antu will continue with Teaching and Learning at Home (PdPR), while parents in haze-affected areas may keep children home if they inform the school.

Haze eases in parts of Malaysia but parents stay alert over school closures
Clearer skies have returned to parts of Malaysia, but parents in Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam remain cautious about the haze and possible school closures. In Sarawak, schools in Serian and Lubok Antu stay shut until API readings fall below 200, under the National Haze Action Plan.
