DAP urges AGC to brief family of teen killed in Bandar Utama school stabbing
DAP is pressing the Attorney General's Chambers to hold an official briefing for the family of a 16-year-old killed in a stabbing at a school in Bandar Utama. The call follows Monday's acquittal of a 15-year-old boy accused of the killing, after the Shah Alam High Court found he was of unsound mind at the time. DAP Women's chief Teo Nie Ching said the family deserves a full explanation of the ruling and whether the prosecution will appeal.

Immigration raids 11 premises on Jalan Chan Sow Lin, 30 foreigners held
Malaysian Immigration officers raided 11 premises in the commercial area of Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Kuala Lumpur, in Ops Serkap at midday yesterday. Thirty foreigners were detained, including 11 Bangladeshis suspected of running the premises, while 19 others were held for various immigration offences. Seized items included 18 laptops, 21 printers and scanners, three mobile phones, 10 Bangladeshi passports, and suspected fake e-PLKS and police reports sold at RM150 and RM70 each.

Driver tests positive for four drugs after crashing into three vehicles on Jalan Kampung Bandar Dalam
A Honda Civic driver tested positive for four types of drugs after crashing into three vehicles at a traffic light junction on Jalan Kampung Bandar Dalam, Kuala Lumpur, at about 3.50pm yesterday. No injuries were reported and the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

AGC: Decision to drop Muhyiddin charges based on professional assessment
The Attorney General's Chambers said the decision not to pursue four charges against Muhyiddin Yassin over Bukhary Equity Sdn Bhd was based on a professional assessment of evidence and the case's chances. The Kuala Lumpur High Court acquitted and discharged the Bersatu president of one abuse of power charge and three money laundering charges involving RM200 million. Three other charges under Section 23(1) of the MACC Act 2009 will proceed.

AGC: dropping four Muhyiddin charges avoided risk to other cases
The Attorney-General's Chambers said in a statement that proceeding with one predicate offence and three money laundering charges against Muhyiddin Yassin could have undermined its strategy for the other charges he still faces. The Kuala Lumpur High Court acquitted Muhyiddin after the prosecution applied for a discharge not amounting to an acquittal without giving a specific reason. DAP's Gobind Singh Deo had called for the attorney-general to explain the decision.

KPJ drops suit against seven ex-directors over Lablink stake sale, four remain
KPJ Healthcare has discontinued its legal action against seven of 11 former directors over the RM119.92 million sale of a 49% stake in Lablink in 2018. The suit continues against former chairman Datuk Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim and three others. The case was filed in January 2024 and is before the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

Immigration raids 11 premises in Chan Sow Lin, 11 Bangladeshis held over fake e-PLKS
Malaysian Immigration officers raided 11 premises in the Jalan Chan Sow Lin commercial area of Kuala Lumpur on Monday, detaining 11 Bangladeshi nationals over a suspected fake e-PLKS operation. Investigators say the premises offered fake e-Temporary Employment Visit Pass documents for about RM150 each and forged police reports for about RM70. A further 19 foreign nationals were detained in checks at the same location and sent to the Putrajaya Immigration Depot.

Gobind asks AG to explain DNAA of four Muhyiddin charges
Gobind Singh Deo has asked Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar to explain the decision to discontinue four charges against Muhyiddin Yassin linked to Bukhary Equity. Motorcyclist dies after skidding on Sultan Iskandar Highway
A man in his 30s died after his Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle lost control and skidded on the Sultan Iskandar Highway from Jalan Duta towards Jalan Tun Razak this afternoon. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a Kuala Lumpur Hospital medical officer, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Mother of stabbed student urges AGC to appeal teen's acquittal
The mother of Yap Shing Xuen, a student killed in a stabbing at a national secondary school in Bandar Utama, is urging the Attorney General's Chambers to appeal the High Court's acquittal of a 15-year-old boy. Wong Lee Ping wants the appeal filed to the Court of Appeal within 14 days. The Shah Alam High Court freed the teen on a defence of unsound mind and ordered him treated at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta, Perak.

High Court declines to cite MACC officer for contempt in Muhyiddin trial
The High Court in Kuala Lumpur decided not to begin contempt proceedings against MACC investigation officer Mazery Mohd Zaini after accepting his explanation for communicating with a colleague who lodged a police report. The report had named Muhyiddin Yassin's lawyer Amer Hamzah Arshad over an allegedly classified document, but it was later given No Further Action status.

KL police propose KK Mart stores as GTSP safety points
Kuala Lumpur police are proposing to turn about 700 KK Mart outlets in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor into Go-To-Safety-Points where the public can seek emergency help. Police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the partnership would include joint patrols and possibly access to the chain's central CCTV feed. Four remanded five days over RM1.8m animal feed false claims
Four people, including an enforcement agency personnel, were remanded for five days by the Kuala Lumpur Magistrate's Court over allegedly false documents in animal feed supply claims worth RM1.8 million. Box with toy blocks destroyed by bomb squad in Bandar Baru Sri Petaling

Vietnamese couple arrested in Ampang for illegal immigration services
A Vietnamese husband and wife were arrested in a raid at a premises on Jalan Bemban, Ampang, Kuala Lumpur for allegedly offering illegal immigration services to fellow Vietnamese, charging up to RM12,000 per client. Bandar Utama school stabbing: 15-year-old boy freed after mental disorder defence
A 15-year-old boy accused of fatally stabbing a 16-year-old schoolgirl in Bandar Utama last year has been acquitted of murder by the Shah Alam High Court on grounds of mental disorder. The court accepted the defence under Section 84 of the Penal Code that he was temporarily insane at the time. He will receive medication and counselling at a mental hospital until medical officers assess him fit to rejoin society.

Former Buycar2u director charged with 71 counts of cheating RM4.7mil
A former director of a used-car trading company, Kee Cher Kian, 34, pleaded not guilty at three Sessions Courts in Kuala Lumpur to 71 cheating charges involving RM4.7 million. The charges relate to businessman Wong Yoong Jed and transactions at several bank branches in Kuala Lumpur between 5 July and 3 August 2022. The court set bail totalling RM215,000 with one surety and fixed mention for 16 October.
