SMRT said preliminary checks suggest a faulty brake caused the smoke, and the train was withdrawn to the depot. No commuters needed medical assistance and services continued normally.

2. Police hunt driver who fled after car skidded into drain on Marsiling Road

A witness said the driver appeared drunk, asked people not to report the crash, and ran off before officers arrived.
