Ahmad Zahid thanks followers of his policy speech, keeps 'guru' reference
UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi posted on Facebook today asking supporters to keep following him ahead of his winding-up speech at the 2026 UMNO General Assembly at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. He had earlier drawn delegates' attention by repeatedly referring to someone he called only 'guru'. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim also used the terms 'guru' and 'slay' in a Facebook post from New Delhi for the 18th BRICS Summit.

The Harmony Beyond Borders - A Celebration of Cultural Friendship concert was held at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur last night as part of the Malaysia Cultural Festival 2026. Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Chiew Choon Man said cultural diplomacy strengthens people-to-people ties across borders through music, dance and heritage. The concert, coordinated by the Malaysian Traditional Orchestra, featured musicians from China, India and Uzbekistan alongside local artists.

A concert marking the 30th anniversary of the album Biru Mata Hitamku was held at Mega Star Arena, Kuala Lumpur. Muss, JoBranko, Eddie and Black performed together for the first time since 1999, playing songs from the album and paying tribute to the late JS Kevin and Bob Lokman.

Court sets 15 trial days from July 26 for former Armed Forces chief
The Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur has fixed 15 days from July 26 next year for the trial of former Armed Forces chief Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaffar, who faces four charges of abuse of position and criminal breach of trust involving RM3 million. The charges relate to alleged bribes and misuse of the Armed Forces Welfare Fund (TKAT) linked to Hari Raya parcel supply contracts in 2024. The court also set Oct 28 for further mention to monitor a representation the defence will submit to the Attorney General's Chambers.

Parliament Open Day 2026 draws over 10,000 visitors, exposes youth to democracy
The Malaysian Parliament Open Day 2026 on 12 and 13 September in Kuala Lumpur served as a platform to bring youth closer to democratic institutions, said Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman. The two-day programme featured about 40 exhibitions by government and private agencies, plus activities such as robotics displays, VR, e-sports, futsal and a blood donation drive, targeting over 10,000 visitors.

Two killed in two-vehicle crash on Jalan Kuantan-Maran
Two men died in a crash involving a Honda Civic and a Toyota Hilux on Jalan Kuantan-Maran near Masjid Paya Bungor, Gambang. The victims were identified as Muhammad Daniel Haiqal Abdullah, 17, and Mohd Sharul Sufriyanto, 40. The bodies were sent to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Afzan's forensic unit for post-mortem, and the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Citaglobal wins RM82.1mil subcontract to build residential college at IPG Lembah Pantai
Citaglobal Bhd, through its wholly owned subsidiary Citaglobal Land Sdn Bhd, has secured an RM82.1 million design-and-build subcontract from Purnama Base Sdn Bhd. The project covers a residential college at the Institute of Teacher Education's Malay Language Campus in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur, and is due for completion on 30 June 2028. The 22-month contract is expected to contribute positively to the group's earnings.
