    Sarawak Forestry Corporation and 18 Malaysian and Indonesian agencies ran Ops Lintas Batas 2026 from 10 to 15 September in the Aruk-Biawak area and along the Malaysia-Indonesia border. A total of 98 personnel took part in joint patrols, checkpoints and intelligence sharing to curb wildlife smuggling. A 1000 Site Visit programme also engaged border communities on conservation awareness.

    Two men aged 25 to 29 were arrested beside Jalan Bau-Lundu in Bau, Sarawak, yesterday afternoon on suspicion of drug abuse. The Bau district police chief said both suspects were detained by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Bau district police headquarters and tested positive for drugs in initial urine screening. The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

  6. Cable thieves hit two Bau telecom towers, RM6,000 lost

    Police in Bau district, Sarawak are investigating the theft of telecommunications cables from two separate communication towers yesterday. The first case at Kampung Opar involved about 80 metres of Power Cable RRU with losses estimated at RM6,000, while the second at Kampung Daun Singai saw about 70 metres of cable taken. Both sites are surrounded by forest and have no CCTV or security guards.
