Team manager Mohd Afendy Abdullah said the target rests on four experienced sailors including Khairulnizam Mohd Afendy and Nur Shazrin Mohamad Latif. The sailing events will be held in Gamagori, Aichi.

1,000 join 5km Larian Ria at Langkawi Stadium
About 1,000 participants took part in a 5km fun run at Langkawi Stadium in Kedah for Malaysia Day. The event, organised by SMK Mahsuri, started at 8am and included a lucky draw with a motorcycle as the top prize.

Man who threw cigarette butt gets arrest warrant, then community service in Perlis
A self-employed man in Perlis was issued an arrest warrant after skipping three court summonses over a discarded cigarette butt, and was later ordered to perform community service. He was one of four people given community service orders for the offence in the state, and on the day only he turned up to start cleaning roads and drains around Dataran Sena. SWCorp said 655 notices of offence had been issued in Perlis as of Sept 13, all for discarding cigarette butts.

Body of missing fisherman found 400 metres from Pulau Batu Layang
A fisherman feared drowned since yesterday was found dead about 400 metres from Pulau Batu Layang, Kangar, this morning. His body was discovered by his own brother-in-law after search and rescue operations were reactivated. The victim leaves behind a wife and three children.

Maans: Sabah must be a geopark player, not an observer
Maans president Murug Vinangun Shalmon Sanangan said Sabah should become a key player in the international geopark network rather than merely watching it develop. He said Sabah's participation in the 9th Asia Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium 2026 in Langkawi was a strategic chance to build international links through communities, indigenous heritage, culture and conservation. BERSATU Perlis urges those who quit party to give up appointed posts
BERSATU Perlis chairman Izizam Ibrahim has urged party leaders and members who recently quit to relinquish all political appointed positions under the state government. He asked Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah to review the status of those holding posts such as local authority councillors and village development committees. The call follows mass resignations by branch chiefs in Kangar, Padang Besar and Arau.

Perlis Immigration detained a 53-year-old local man and a 35-year-old Myanmar national in Ops Kutip around Kuala Perlis at about 3am. A sedan car, mobile phones and documents were seized. The case is being investigated under anti-trafficking and immigration laws.

A 40-year-old security guard reported missing since the day before was found dead floating in a drain near Batu 1 1/2, Jalan Tambun Tulang, Simpang Empat, Kangar. Police said initial investigations found no criminal element and classified the case as sudden death; the man had a history of schizophrenia.
