KBS: All ministries ready for Bahrain GP at Sepang
The Youth and Sports Ministry says preparations to host the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit from 2 to 4 October are running smoothly. Technical committee meetings are held every Tuesday and reports go to Cabinet, involving all ministries on protocol, international invitations and infrastructure. SIC has been fully closed since 7 September for circuit and facility repairs.

Sepang to host Bahrain Grand Prix in October
Sepang International Circuit will stage the Bahrain Grand Prix from 2 to 4 October, the first time a Formula 1 race carrying another country's name is held in Malaysia. Harian Metro lists historical precedents such as the San Marino GP at Imola, the Swiss GP at Dijon and the Luxembourg GP at the Nurburgring, and says Sepang was chosen as the alternative venue after the Bahrain GP was cancelled earlier this season over geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

Woman dies, two hurt after lorry hits stalled car at Km 284.4 of the North-South Expressway
A 32-year-old woman was killed and her sister and a motorcyclist were seriously injured when a lorry struck their stalled Perodua Axia at Kilometre 284.4 of the North-South Expressway northbound around 9am. Police in Nilai are investigating under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Negeri Sembilan DOE steps up open burning checks as API turns unhealthy
The Negeri Sembilan Department of Environment has increased ground-level monitoring, especially of open burning, after air quality in several districts fell to unhealthy levels. Nilai recorded an API of 172, Seremban 168 and Port Dickson 155 as of noon. Letters were sent to local authorities and district offices to step up enforcement, and cloud seeding will be coordinated by NADMA at federal level.

SMK Chung Hua Miri students win national robotics title, head to WRO Puerto Rico
A robotics team from SMK Chung Hua Miri won the RoboSports Double Tennis category at the National Robotics Competition (NRC) 2026 held at INTI International University in Seremban on 6-10 September. The win qualifies them to represent Malaysia at the World Robot Olympiad in Puerto Rico.

Penang student enters USM after caring for sick mother and siblings
Muhammad Adam Iskandar Azharunaim, 20, has begun his undergraduate studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia after years of caring for his cancer-stricken mother and three siblings, one of them disabled. His father died of Covid-19 five years ago and his mother died on 24 August. He had earlier turned down a place at UIAM and chose Form Six to stay with his family.

STPM top student who cared for siblings after mother's death starts at USM
Muhammad Adam Iskandar Azharunaim, 20, who looked after his three siblings after their mother died of brain cancer on 24 August, has begun his studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia in Georgetown. His father died of COVID-19 in 2021, and his 16-year-old brother, who is disabled, is studying culinary skills at SMK Serdang Baru in Kedah.

F1 returns to Sepang in October, projected to generate RM1.3 billion
The rescheduled Bahrain Grand Prix will be held at Sepang International Circuit from Oct 2 to 4, 2026, marking Formula 1's return to Malaysia for the first time since 2017. HLIB Research estimates the event could generate RM1.1 billion to RM1.3 billion in economic output, with tourism spending as the main driver.

F1 Bahrain GP preparations at Sepang 80 pct complete, says minister
Preparations for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit are 80 per cent complete, Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari said in Putrajaya. Upgrading works at SIC began on Sept 7 and 500 volunteers have been identified for training. Malaysia will host the race from Oct 2-4, bringing F1 back after nine years.

77 foreigners detained in Nilai immigration operation
Malaysia's Immigration Department in Negeri Sembilan detained 77 undocumented migrants at two industrial premises in Nilai. The 65 men, 11 women and one girl were held for various offences under the Immigration Act and placed at the Lenggeng immigration depot.
